My media product is essentially going to follow and adhere to the conventions of a typical music video and creating a digi-pack that ties in with the video, as well as a magazine advert that does the same. The ideas for my music video, however, challenge the typical conventions of a media product due to the controversial genre of music, which is electronica/RNB. I was influenced and inspired by music videos that I watched which used various original ideas and interesting shots and scenes. For example, I want to make sure that my video was not predictable by including the conventions that challenge the stereotypical genres of music, such as the genre of electronica/RNB. The audience I am aiming at are intrigued by unusual music videos and subject matters.
Age range: 18-25
why? because this type of music will intrigue the younger generation and appeal to them more than adults.
ethnicity : all races
why? This music is consumed by all races, black, caucasian, afro - carribean, asian etc.
Gender: both male and female
why? firstly we thought our genre of music would suit men more than women but as we researched more we found out that the ratio of men and women who like this type of genre was quite balanced and so would appeal to both of them.
socio-economic status: C-E
why? the most number of consumers that enjoy electronica/RNB music would be the lower classes because it would help them whilst enjoying this music and not worrying about work.
Songs from a similar genre to mine often have videos that are very bright, stand out and quirky and filled with creative imagination. For example, kanye west's ‘stronger' is filled with a variety of colour and imagination. I will definately follow this use of mise en scene in my music video by using light to convey meaning and add an overall tone, especially to make my music video stand out.
Faheem.
